Apax reaches out to drought victims

AUCKLAND PARK – Apax students and parents raise R100 000 to hand over to Gift of the Givers.

Auckland Park Academy of Excellence (Apax) pupils collected 2 000 five-litre bottles of water for distribution to drought-stricken areas in the Free State and Eastern Cape.

In addition to this, parents and pupils managed to raise an additional R100 000 which was handed over to the Gift of the Givers. This was used to purchase 2 000 pallets of water.

Principal Nadia Motara said, “Apax reaches out whenever there is a need and this time, the parents and pupils understood the plight of farmers and ordinary citizens.” She also said that the Apax community must be applauded for the phenomenal effort they made in such a short space of time. The success of the event can be attributed to the excellent rapport between pupils, teachers and parents.
