Sectors in the Parkview Police precinct were reduced from four to two and new sector cellphone numbers have been allocated to patrol vehicles.
Parkview SAPS advise residents to note the latest changes which were made to align the police precinct with the Magistrate Court’s jurisdiction.
The previous sectors 1, 2, 3 and 4 have been merged into two sectors – North Sector (Sector 1) and South Sector (Sector 2).
Craighall Park, Dunkeld West, Parkhurst and Parktown fall under North Sector or Sector 1 and the direct contact details are: 071 675 6060 and 071 675 6061.
Parkview, Westcliff, Greenside East, Parktown, Parktown West, Greenside, Emmarentia and Franklin Roosevelt Park fall under Sector or Sector 2 and the direct contact details are: 071 675 6062 and 071 675 6063
Police spokesperson Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha explained that previously, eight cellphones were allocated to vehicles on patrol.
“This will be reduced to only two cellphones per sector to reflect the sector changes. Numbers to be discontinued but still operational for the time being are: 071 675 6064; 071 675 6065; 071 675 6066 and 071 675 6067,” he explained.
The police also apologise for any inconvenience caused and promise that changes will be implemented gradually in order to ensure that service delivery is not compromised.
“We urge the community to familiarise themselves with the cellphone numbers that will remain operational for their respective suburbs. Getting hold of the officers on these numbers could greatly reduce the reaction times to where our officers are needed,” he concluded.
