Chef accused of raping a student

GREENSIDE – A chef accused of raping a university student (21) is remanded in custody.

A 23-year-old chef accused of raping a university student was remanded in custody after appearing in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.

He was arrested after he allegedly raped the 21-year-old student who was also his colleague, at his home recently.

According to the Parkview Police report, the incident allegedly occurred at the chef’s home and he was swiftly arrested when the victim reported the incident on 12 February.

The chef allegedly offered his victim a place to sleep when she was stranded after she had finished her night shift at a restaurant in Greenside, where they both work.

Police communication officer Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha explained that the incident was being investigated by the SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

“The accused will re-appear in the same court soon,” he continued.

The victim sustained a broken leg during the attack and was then rushed to hospital for treatment.
