WARNING: Samwu strike will affect all Joburg regions

JOBURG – Pikitup condemns Samwu illegal work stoppage.

The Waste Management Company of the City of Joburg (Pikitup) announced disruptions in service delivery due to an illegal work stoppage by their employees who are affiliated with South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) on 4 February.

This will affect all regions in Joburg said Pikitup.

“We therefore appeal to residents and business owners to bear with us and continue to leave their bins and excess waste inside their yards until further notice.”

The City of Joburg, the Board and management of Pikitup condemns the unlawful action taken by Samwu today. “The unlawful action is against the spirit of the ongoing engagement with Samwu and the concessions made by City of Joburg and Pikitup to accommodate Samwu’s demands.”
