De La Salle Holy Cross College collected over 38 tons of water to be donated to Holy Cross Primary School in Aliwal North, thanks to some help.
De La Salle Holy Cross College challenged local schools, churches and businesses to their Water Drive Challenge. Sister Bridget, Principal of the Holy Cross School, distributed the water to her pupils, their families, old-age homes, crèches and the local community.
“A very special thanks to everyone and especially, the children who wrote messages on the water bottles they brought in as donations. The Holy Cross Primary School pupils and teachers were so touched by the personal messages that wished us luck, prayers and encouragement,” said Sister Bridget. She added that she has had very few sick children since receiving the water.
Apart from the water bottles, two sponsored JoJo tanks and a pump will also be delivered to the community of Aliwal North soon. Laerskool Louw Geldenhuys collected the most water in the Water Drive Challenge with 9 000 litres of water.
