Early morning accident leaves five injured
FAIRLAND – Five injured after a cement truck crashes into cars on the highway. Further investigations follow.
Five people were injured on the morning of 29 January after a truck crashed into several vehicles on the N1 highway near the 14th Avenue off-ramp, Fairland.
According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene along with other services. They found the highway blocked by heavy traffic. “Numerous wrecked vehicles were spread out across the scene,” said Meiring. The truck that carried cement lay at the bottom of the embankment on its side.
Meiring further said that paramedics assessed the scene and found only five patients with minor injuries. “Paramedics set out treating the patients while fire services and highway patrol began to remove and sweep up the cement spread across the scene,” said Meiring. Once treated, the patients were taken to various hospitals for further treatment.
