Know your sector commanders

LINDEN – Linden Police have urged communities to know their sector commanders and to join resident associations.

There are four sectors within the Linden Police precinct and residents need to be aware of those areas and their sector commanders.

Suburbs such as Blairgowrie, Ferndale, Robin Acres, President Ridge, Pine Park, Craighall Park and Oak Street, Little John Road, Abbot Road and Maid Marion Street in Robindale are in Sector 1.

The commander in this sector is Warrant Officer Walter Spencer with 28 years experience in the police force. “In God we trust, others are suspects,” said WO Spencer as he recalled his slogan. The contact number for sector patrol vehicle is 071 675 6044.

WO Walter Spencer is the sector 1 commander.

WO Sarel Bredenhand is the Sector 2 commander and the sector patrol vehicle contact number is 071 675 6047. WO Bredenhand has been in the profession for more than 25 years. “You are the creator of your own safety,” said WO Bredenhand.

Sector 2 commander is WO Sarel Bredenhand.

The suburbs in Sector 2 are Linden, Linden Ext, Risidale, Franklin Roosevelt, Victory Park, Montroux, Aldara Park, Pierneef Park, Delta Park and Darrenwood from west of Republic Road on number 16 and 21 Cheyne Street.

The Sector 3 patrol vehicle contact number is 071 675 6049 and the sector commander is WO Robert Diphoko. The suburbs in this sector are Malanshof, Fontainebleau, Moret, Ruiterhof, Robin Hills, Robindale (part of), Randpark, Windsor Glen and Jacanlee.

Sergeant Orden Masumpa is the Sector 4 commander and the patrol vehicle in this sector can be contacted on 071 675 6050. “Approach life in a right way,” said Sgt Masupa as he prepares for a day in the fight against crime.

Sgt Orden Masupa is Sector 4 commander.

The suburbs in Sector 4 are Windsor East, Windsor West, Cresta, Darrenwood, Blackheath and Kelland.

Captain Alex Vermaak explained that they communicate crime overview on a daily basis with all the role players such as security companies, resident associations and community policing forums (CPF). This is done to make operational adjustment in order to prevent crime.

“The biggest thing about us is that we do not have time for infighting. Our job is to save people’s lives and ensure the properties are secured,” he explained.

The police in each sector meet with all the relevant stakeholders on a weekly basis. “Although we have different approaches in life, we have one common enemy and that is crime,” concluded Capt Vermaak.

Police also urged residents to get involved in registered and legitimate resident associations.
