Two arrested during robbery

BRIXTON – One suspect connected to many crimes, is arrested.

The Brixton Police were alerted to a housebreaking and robbery in progress in Mayfair West on 12 January.

According to Brixton SAPS liaison officer Jeanette Backhoff, “The complainant was sleeping when he heard a noise at the door and he woke up – three males were in the house and one of them had a firearm.”

Backhoff further stated that one suspect took the complainant to his bedroom and tied him up, one suspect ran away while another suspect searched the house.

Police arrived on the scene and the suspects tried to flee. Due to the speedy work of Brixton Police both suspects were arrested in the house. One suspect is linked to other crimes as far as Lenasia.

“One firearm was recovered. The items stolen were cash and cellphones,” added Backhoff.

No injuries were reported and no shots were fired.
