Twenty Grade 1 pupils started their new school year at Sparrow Foundation School in Melville on 13 January.
The school principal’s personal assistant, Nicole Tiflin said they are still expecting the number to increase by the end of next week.
She said the new pupils will be orientated in order to prepare them for their lessons at the school and to get them used to the new environment.
“We have activities prepared for them,” she said.
Tiflin said the children were taught English and maths, and shown around and introduced to the teachers on the day.
“They will also play netball, soccer for boys and other sports in the next few weeks,” she said.
