A bright new start

WESTBURY – Grade 1s of Westbury Primary School were eager to get their first day of school going.

Westbury Primary School was bustling with a new class of Grade 1s on 13 January who were either really excited to start this new year school or timid to the task of making new friends.

Principal Sheldon Maconi said that he is looking forward to getting the children situated in a stable environment that will aid their future.

“My hope for the year is that the school’s conduct is upheld by the children, and it starts with the little ones, an encouraging environment will ensure that they know how to behave,” said Maconi.

The school was filled with mothers and fathers who were excited for their children to start this big new adventure in their lives. Each one wished their children all the success on their first day of school.

Caroline Matshidiso said that for her daughter, she wished all the success in her schooling and that she makes friends easily.

Another parent, Yolanda Mguye said that she hopes her daughter receives lots of awards and certificates and works hard in her academics.

Deputy principal, Mrs Sharon Johnson, concluded that she was excited about the year

“A new year, new beginnings,” said Johnson “I want the children to be excited about coming to school every morning, I would like for all of their dreams to come true having been well equipped by us to tackle the world in future.”
