Matric pupil receives seven distinctions

NORTHCLIFF– Helpmekaar Kollege pupil plans to study toward being a chartered accountant at Stellenbosch University this year.

Helpmekaar Kollege pupil Marco Pretorius matriculated with seven distinctions in life orientation, accounting, mathematics, German, Afrikaans, advanced programme mathematics and physical sciences.

Pretorius, who stays in Northcliff, said his favourite subjects were mathematics and German. He scored 94 per cent in mathematics and 90 per cent in German.

In his spare time he enjoys being around his friends where they play online computer games, often cooks for his family and plays chess – he has South African colours for chess. He also plays tennis competitively.

“I will be begin my studies this year at Stellenbosch toward the end of January where I will be studying B Com accounting,” he said. Pretorius would like to be a chartered accountant once he completes his studies just like his father and study abroad in Germany since he can speak the language.

His advice to Matrics in 2016 is to study hard in preparation for all their exams.
