Christmas message from Brixton Police Station Commander

BRIXTON – Brixton Station Commander Colonel Michelle Jones appeals to residents to take sensible precautions this festive season.

Brixton Police Station Commander Colonel Michelle Jones wishes residents and external partners a peaceful festive season:

On behalf of all police and staff members at Brixton Police Station, I would like to wish the community and our external partners a very peaceful festive season with family and friends and a Happy 2016.

This time of the year does brings with it some significant challenges. December and January always encourage predictable crime types. We get a greater consumption of alcohol – so assaults can increase.

Random thefts from cars, shops, sheds and businesses also increase.

My message is always to take sensible precautions. Keep yourselves safe, think about how much you might be drinking, keep valuables safely hidden and lock your doors and windows.

Remember all common-sense tips and you will have done as much as needed to insulate yourself from a ruined Christmas.

In the spirit of Christmas, I would like to appeal to all of us to lend a helping hand to fellow humans by sharing and showing compassion, especially to the vulnerable among us.

Let us also console those who have unfortunately lost family members and friends through natural and unnatural causes during the course of the year.

I wish to thank everybody in our communities for the work they did this year to ensure that we succeed.

Above all, give yourselves a loving hug for being such good South Africans.
