Father Christmas visits

ROOSEVELT PARK – Father Christmas visits Roosevelt Extension Nursery School at the school's end-of-year lunch.

Father Christmas brought many a smile to the children at Roosevelt Extension Nursery School (Rens) on 3 December when he stopped by for a surprise visit before the Christmas rush.

The children glowed with glee as Father Christmas called out each of their names to collect a specially-selected gift. The children were enjoying a special end-of-year lunch with a variety of great food.

“The end-of-year lunch is always a magical time for the children,” said school secretary, Lee-Anne Hodge. “This year, Mia Wadge’s grandfather, donned the Father Christmas suit for the children. When Mia’s mother, Megan, attended this school, her grandfather did the honours. Both children had no idea at the time.”

Principal Carol Weideman said that the end of the year was a time of reflection and celebration for the children, as some would move on to new schools. She concluded that the teachers felt slightly sad to see the children go, but they also felt pride and a sense of achievement because they prepared the children well for the journey into “big school”.
