All Sophiatown the Mix wants for Christmas is more community support
SOPHIATOWN – Sophiatown the Mix wants the community to volunteer more in events.
Sophiatown the Mix exists to promote the revival of Sophiatown as a place where all are welcome, where learning and nurturing are everyday activities, and where people are inspired to build their dreams in peaceful ways.
Our vision is for the spirit of old Sophiatown to be re-born in our contemporary times – a place where diversity is celebrated, where Ubuntu is practised, and where the future can be something we build together. We do this by offering cultural experiences open to all, promoting the arts and supporting entrepreneurship in the historic western area neighbourhoods.
We are guided by the principles of Father Huddleston who was a human rights activist and who also dedicated himself to educating the youth of Sophiatown.
Our Christmas Wish list is:
- For the community members to come and enjoy the space and events we have on offer. This will allow us to continue to operate and stay open for the community.
- To have volunteers for our culture and heritage events as well as community events.
