ROSSMORE – Staff members from Helen Joseph Hospital celebrate a year of success and hard work at the hospital's excellence awards.
Dr Raymond Bill hands Vutumi Hlongwane an award for her excellent work.
Staff members from Helen Joseph Hospital were celebrated and thanked for their hard work and dedication at the hospital’s Excellence Awards on 27 November. The CEO of the hospital Dr Raymond Billa said that despite national budget cuts, the staff had worked hard and tirelessly throughout the year.
“Here all we do is work and serve, and today is a day to feel good and smile,” Dr Billa said in his speech at the awards. He highlighted some of the hospital’s achievements such as the reduction in patient waiting times for certain medical procedures and the installations of new machines such as the new generator and MRI.
“It was a great feeling when we were able to move our patients when the new generator was installed and switched over. We did not require any assistance from the private sector. We have received many compliments of how welcoming and caring the staff is and how they display a good attitude toward patients,” Dr Billa noted.
He pointed out that there were improvements to be made but he was confident that the staff at the hospital would overcome them. He encouraged the staff who did not win an award to work even harder in the coming year and not be discouraged.
Vutumi Hlogwane, the assistant director for occupational health and safety at the hospital, took home the award for best worker for 2015.
