Girl (9) kidnapped in Northcliff

NORTHCLIFF – Fairland Police asks residents who know anything about the incident to come forward.

A nine-year-old girl was kidnapped outside her school in Northcliff on 24 November. She was found in a nearby street crying two hours later. Fairland Police spokesperson Constable Michael Kgatla explained that after school had finished, the girl was on her own in a street outside the school. An unknown man wearing black approached her and kidnapped her.

Kgatla would not divulge outside which school this occurred or what happened over the next two hours, but a woman found the girl crying in a nearby street two hours later and took her back to her school. The girl’s parents reported the incident to Fairland Police, who opened a case of kidnapping. “We are investigating the incident and hopefully a suspect can be found with the help of the community,” Const Kgatla added.

He encouraged residents who knew anything about the incident to contact Fairland Police. “People must be careful,” he said. “They must look after their kids. Little girls must not be left running around alone outside school. They can be targeted.”
