Rotary Club of Northcliff donates R6 000

COTTESCOLE – The Northcliff Rotary Club handed over a cheque to Woodeside Sanctuary.

The Woodside Sanctuary in Cottesloe is dedicated to taking care of people with mental and physical disabilities by providing their residents with care in a comfortable environment.

The Northcliff Rotary Club hosted a charity event at the Randpark Golf Club in September in order to raise funds for Woodside Sanctuary. They managed to raise 3at was formally handed over to the organisation on 20 November at their residence.

President of the Rotary Club of Northcliff Francis Callard said that the Rotary Club Northcliff have always supported Woodside Sanctuary by donating essentials like wheelchairs.

“The Northcliff Rotary Club have had another successful year in most of the initiatives we have been involved in such as the vegetable garden in Zandspruit where we managed to raise R360 000. The other projects we support include the Guild Cottage in hosting their birthday parties and we also recently completed a ramp at Caro House,” Callard said.

Woodside Sanctuary general manager Kristen Williams said that all their donors are their livelihood and that they have been sponsored by the Northcliff Rotary Club for over four years.

“Funds raised go to residents specific needs depending on where the sponsors want them to go. An activity like stimulation is a critical aspect to the overall well being of our residents. The funds raised by Northcliff Rotary Club will go towards the stimulation programme at Woodside Sanctuary,” Williams said.

Williams also said she believes giving back is the part of the spirit of ubuntu in a world that could do with a lot more kindness.
