Suspects arrested for housebreaking and theft

LINDEN – Two suspects were arrested after Linden Police stopped the vehicle and found stolen goods inside it.

Two suspects both (24) were arrested at Ruiterhof on 4 November at 12.30pm.

Members of the South African Police Service were patrolling, when they noticed the suspects’ vehicle on Silverpine Drive in Ruiterhof.

Allegedly one of the suspects was sitting in the vehicle when two other suspects ran out of the premises with suspected stolen goods.

Linden Police promptly stopped the suspect’s vehicle and searched it while one of the suspects fled the scene on foot.

An unlicensed firearm and ammunition, a Samsung LCD Plasma TV, jamming device with a charger, screwdrivers and jewellery were discovered by the police.

A preliminary investigation was conducted where police recovered a television that was stolen in Fairland during a housebreaking incident earlier that morning. The vehicle the suspects were travelling in, a white Hyundai i20, was hijacked in Alexandra in October 2015.

The suspects are due to appear in Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
