LINDEN – Bring on the spirit at the Louwtjies Fees.
Laerskool Louw Geldenhuys celebrated their Louwtjies Fees (Festival) with fun activities for all on 24 October.
Teacher Lee van Niekerk said, “Today it is only a small part of our festival. It completes the cultural part of the festival.”
The school is 113 years old and when they turned 110 the celebrations began.
Principal Arrie Genis explained, “It started with a small celebration on one day and each year it has grown into something phenomenal and each year it’s bigger and bigger.”
The festival also combines part of their large fundraiser where every child, teacher and parent get involved.
The day saw some great tennis with girls’ and boys’ single and double games.
The school was also draped in turquoise material.
This is in aid of the foundation called ‘Go Turquoise 4 the Elderly’ who raises funds for the elderly.
The week’s celebration will culminate in an old school movie night at the school.
