Man arrested for burglary to appear in court

PARKVIEW – A security guard was arrested after stealing a laptop at the premises he was guarding.

A 27-year-old suspect was arrested on 21 October by the Parkview Police, detectives following a business burglary that took place at a school in Parktown.

Parkview Police communication officer Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha said the suspect had been on the run since he committed the crime. “He was on duty at the time guarding the premises when a co–worker heard a strange noise in the premises in the wee hours of the morning. Upon investigation, he then noticed his colleague gain entry through a broken window into an unauthorised area,” he said.

The witness pressed the panic button when he noticed the suspect holding a laptop bag and when the armed response arrived the suspect climbed a wall and escaped.

The suspect was arrested after a tracing operation led the police to him where he was arrested in the afternoon in Soweto. He will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court to face charges of business burglary when a date is set.
