Bikers now have a home

GREENSIDE– A new store that offers a restaurant, coffee barista, bike apparel shop and a bike workshop– all in one opened its doors recently.

A new and unique restaurant opened in Greenside on 16 October. Rims and Rubber Assembly offers a unique cuisine experience, barista coffee station, industrial themed bar and biking apparel all under one roof.

The evening was hosted by Sasha Martinengo. Canapés were served to attending guests, Jon Delinger serenaded the crowd and an authentic Harley Davidson Softail Bobber was auctioned for R110 000.

The store is owned by bike enthusiasts Craig Bosman and business partner Leanne Champion who opened the store after many years of contemplating over the idea. Champion explained that her partner, Bosman’s father was a biker and this had a huge impact on the idea of Rims and Rubber Assembly.

“Craig would always talk about this idea and two years ago we took it very seriously and started planning the whole place,” she said. She added that they wanted to give bikers a place where they could come have their bikes fixed while they have a meal or sit at the bar.

“Even though it’s a biker’s place, everyone is welcome as we have a very unique menu put together by our Head Chef Donovan Clive,” Champion said. Clive said that he cooks using molecular gastronomy and hoped that people came to taste his food. Rims and Rubber Assembly also has on offer specially brewed beer by Black Horse a small local brewer.

Jon Delinger added that Rims and Rubber Assembly was a good place for bikers to come and meet. “The decor is very cool and fits in with the biker’s theme,” he said.
