Clinic fun day coming soon

BERARIO – Residents in and around Berario are encouraged to attend a fun day at Berario Clinic which is aimed at creating awareness for breast cancer as well as clinic services on 10 October.

The Berario Recreation Centre is set to be a buzz of activities on 10 October when the Berario Clinic hosts its open day. Luti Kumalo who serves on the Berario Clinic Committee as the secretary, said that the day was aimed at informing community members from the area and its surrounding communities about services that the clinic offers. “We want people to know exactly what services are being offered at the clinic, so that they are not confused between clinic and hospital services,” Kumalo said.

She added that since October was cancer month they would be offering free pap smears, training on self breast examination as well as prostate checks on the day.

“With a disease like cancer early detection is key, once people have tested and know where they stand we can transfer them to the right facilities,” she said.

She pointed out that they will also be offering free BP, sugar diabetes and HIV testing. Alongside will be the [Fairland Police Station www.saps.gov.za] Dog and Drug unit that will be educating people about the dangers that drugs pose to a society. “The police will also be hosting a career stall where the public can find out about the different career options available within the South African Police Service. “We encourage community members to attend the clinic open day as it will be very beneficial to their health and it will also be a nice outing for families in the area,” Kumalo added.

She said that one of the services that the clinic offered was promoting healthy living lifestyle and the community was welcome to come and ask questions as their staff members will be on site to answer any questions posed to them.

She said that children of all ages were welcome as there will be lots to do on the day such as face painting and a jumping castle for small children. She added that they will have a massage therapist on site including a variety of stalls that will be selling different wares.
