De La Salle gets bins

VICTORY PARK – Local school starts to recycle its waste.

The 2015 Environment Committee from De La Salle Holy Cross College is helping the school go even greener. After spending many long hours of fundraising, the committee has equipped the college in Victory Park with recycling bins.

The committee organised civvies days, a night run and six-a-side soccer days – and now have a number of recycling bins around the school, as well as smaller bins in all the classrooms and offices. Recycling and separation of everyday rubbish and wastes will result in reducing the school’s carbon footprint and increasing its sustainability for the future.

“It is amazing that the work of all of the committees from the past five years has finally resulted in yet another effective way for our school to contribute towards environmental sustainability.” said Caitlyn Mahony, Grade 12 pupil and one of the committee members.
