A video has gone viral after a female JPMD officer and a motorist argued over a traffic fine on 28 August at about 8.45am.
The motorist in question and Bloubosrand resident, Clive Naidoo, who took the video and posted it on Facebook was stopped by a female JMPD officer on the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue and Bram Fischer Drive in Bordeaux.
Naidoo said, “The first officer that stopped me was extremely polite when she asked for my driver’s licence.” He added, “The video starts when the incident becomes irate when the new female officer took over.”
The JMPD officer can be heard mocking the motorist about where he lives and openly approves him recording the conversation on his iPhone. Naidoo claimed that he was stopped for skipping a red traffic light, which he said was not red.
“It was not red and other cars went through the same robot as me, also we could see the road block in front of us, so why would I have jumped the robot?
“I apologise for my actions and I accept responsibility for what I said during the incident.”

JMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar commented, “Motorists should not engage in an argument with a JMPD officer when getting a fine. They should accept the fine and thereafter apply for cancellation of the traffic fine.”

He further stated, “If a JMPD officer misbehaves then a formal complaint can be lodged at the JMPD Internal Affairs Unit for the incident and for the officer’s misbehaviour to be investigated.”
