Petrol to drop again

JOBURG – Petrol price is expected to drop in September.

After a significant drop in petrol price in August, motorists can expect another much-needed drop in September.

The Automobile Association (AA)  has predicted that fuel might decrease between 55c and 64c a litre respectively, while the price of diesel will decrease between 53c and 57c a litre, and paraffin by 60c a litre.

The AA also indicated in a statement that the rand has weakened significantly against the US dollar since the last week of July.

“Fortunately for South African fuel users, international oil prices have continued to slip, meaning there is still a reasonable prospect of a drop in the fuel price at the end of the month,” said the AA.

The AA also added that had the rand not depreciated, there would have been a drop of about 83 cents a litre. “We are confident that fuel prices will drop but if oil prices flatten out, motorists will be at the whim of the rand in coming months,” the Association concluded.
