Stamp collector offers to part with collection

FAIRLAND – Brian Folley hopes to assist aspiring stamp collectors.

Brian Folley boasts what must be one of the most impressive stamp collections in Johannesburg, if not the country. Fairland resident Folley is a retiree of 20 years who devotes himself to obtaining and maintaining stamps that date decades back, and boasts about 300 000 registered labels with about 22 000 differences.

Brian Folley also collects stamps from other countires.

Despite being colour blind, he has washed and sorted thousands of stamps into their collective sets. As he had to retire earlier than most owing to health concerns, he focuses on keeping his mind busy and staving off boredom. Cleaning and sorting stamps assists in this. Despite his massive collection, he stated, “There are more than 800 stamps that I have never even seen as they get posted out the country.”

Folley is calling on South Africans, domestic and abroad, to send him the stamps that they no longer want. He asks any collectors and aspiring collectors searching for stamps to contact him, as he is more than willing to part with portions of his collection.
