GALLERY: New childcare development centre to open

BLACKHEATH – Early childcare development centre comes to Blackheath.

Dreams do come true, as proven by Marlize Visser, principal and owner of ClevaMe Academy which opens its doors on 01 September.

Visser dreamed of opening up her own early childcare development centre while still a young girl babysitting around her neighborhood. “I told my dad about what I wanted to do and he advised me to start with a budget and then later on he told me that I should get a qualification, which I did and thereafter he advised me to get some experience,” she said.

Visser holds a BEd degree in Education from UNISA, and a Montessori Diploma obtained from Montessori Africa.

ClevaMe Academy, which is situated in Blackheath, will take babies from three months old until pre-primary and supports them through their growing stages. The academy is divided into different sections where teaching and learning will take place.

Visser said the school offers the CAPS curriculum, is finger-print monitored and has 24-hour internet surveillance which enables parents to login and watch their child from anywhere.

She added that ClevaMe Academy stresses the importance of privacy for each child, which is why the toilets are individually enclosed to give each child privacy, in order to teach them what privacy is as well as independence and good hygiene practices.

Visser pointed out that ClevaMe Academy will only feed the children food low in sugar, as she believes that giving sugar to children is an option she leaves up to the parents. She said ClevaMe Academy meal plans are worked out by a registered dietician.

“Here we offer integrated learning using technology which is different to the more traditional forms of learning being offered elsewhere,” she added.

Visser added that all the teachers and assistants who are employed at ClevaMe Academy are all qualified to work with children and that all children are welcome at ClevaMe Academy.
