Police arrest a robbery suspect after a brazen attack

MELVILLE – 21-year-old suspect is arrested for possession of suspected stolen property.

A suspect was arrested by Parkview police after he was allegedly involved in an armed robbery recently.

The 21-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of stolen goods and was allegedly linked to a driveway robbery that occurred in Melville.

Parkview Police spokesperson Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha said the police were on patrol when they responded swiftly to a call of a suspicious person spotted along the shrubby area of the local golf-course yard in Parkview.

“Upon arrival the members combed the golf-course area and found the suspect hiding there. He was then searched and one iPad and a cell phone, which he couldn’t account for, were found in his possession,” said Sergeant Ramovha.

Ramovha explained that as the officers were busy questioning him, the cell phone rang and was answered by one of the officers.

“It was then established that the suspect had just robbed victims at gun-point in Melville.

“The victim who was robbed came and positively identified the stolen property as well as the suspect, and details were then relayed by the victim of how the suspect earlier threatened her with a firearm and robbed her of her belongings whilst she waited on the driveway for the roller door to open at her work place,” recounted Ramovha.

No firearm was recovered.

The suspect is set to appear at Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court and will be charged with possession of suspected stolen property and armed robbery, said Ramovha.
