Children held up for TV games

WESTDENE – Two children forced to lie down while robbers entered house.

Two children were forced to the ground during a housebreaking and robbery on 4th Avenue and Banbury Road in Westdene at around 10am on 24 June.

Sophiatown Neighbourhood Watch Dauw Steyn said, “Frikkie Botes of the Concerned Residents of Westdene (CROW) responded to the call where we found two children who had been robbed inside the house.” He added, “TVs, games and electronics were stolen from the house.”

The two male suspects broke the small front gate to gain access. According to Steyn, the children were forced to lie face down on the ground while the two male suspects ransacked the house. Sophiatown SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer TJ de Bruin confirmed that there was a robbery. There were no injuries as well as no arrests made. A case of housebreaking and robbery has been opened at the police station.
