International Drug-Free Day

RANDBURG – International Drug-Free Day is on 26 June and is a day to create more awareness about drugs in society.

Drugs can have a major impact on an individual’s life and their families. The 26 June is the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and the United Nations has dedicated this day to create awareness about issues surrounding drug abuse.

“Our Drug Awareness Educational Program includes each individual becoming aware of the current drug culture we have in our society,” said executive member of the foundation Drug-Free World South Africa Marcelle Beech. She further added that people can look at their own decisions to change their views to one where they choose to live and influence others actively towards a drug free culture.

“This is all our time as South Africans, to influence our countrymen for a life without drugs. Our youth depends on us, now,” expressed Beech.

Drug-Free World will be holding an open house to mark International Drug-Free Day.The event will focus on theTruth about Drugs campaign. They will also have guest speakers who will share a wealth of information on the following:

• Finding out the truth about drugs

• Living in a safe and drug free environment

• What one can do to get involved.

The event will be held at 9am at the auditorium, Church of Scientology of Johannesburg in Kensington.
