Help find this man who went missing last year

HONEYDEW – Family of missing man and police seek community's assistance in finding him.

Dominic Gumbi, 25, has been missing for more than a year now and his family is filled with despair.

Gumbi’s sister Bonginkosi Dube said their family became worried on 2 May 2014 when her brother did not return from work.

According to Honeydew Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs, Gumbi was a waiter at Northgate Shopping Centre.

He was last seen when he was on his way back from work.

It is understood that Gumbi was travelling in a taxi that dropped him off at the BP garage on Beyers Naudé Drive. In appearance, it is said that Gumbi was dark, tall with big brown eyes and a shaven beard.

On the day he was last seen, he was wearing a pink T-shirt, navy blue jeans and white takkies. His sister said her brother was a quiet and disciplined young man. “We are really worried as a family. We are asking ourselves what could have happened because he was not the noisy and violent type,” said Dube.

She added that the family has been to all hospitals and mortuaries throughout Johannesburg to try and see if they can find him there. WO Jacobs said the police were investigating the case and following all leads that they receive. She asked anyone with information on Gumbi’s whereabouts to contact Constable Simphiwe Duma on 071 675 7105 or 011 801 8601.
