MILPARK – School pupils receive the opportunity to consider their potential profession at a special career day.

Experiential youth marketing company 3RC hosted a special career day presentation for senior pupils at the Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg (DSJ) on 29 May.

The event played host to a number of institutions who put up stalls to showcase their courses to prospective students. Organisations such as the University of Johannesburg, AFDA, City Varsity, and Monash University were present to showcase their career opportunities.

Pupils from McAuley House and St Teresa’s School were also present. Speakers explained the importance of making the right choice when deciding upon a career.

DSJ principal Thomas Bachmeier was very pleased to have the pupils involved at the career day. “This day serves as [a] wonderful opportunity for pupils to see what career opportunities are out there,” he said.

He explained that pupils should be aware of choosing a profession that would ultimately make them happy and foster their skills. “Obviously we want to see our pupils achieve success in their chosen professions. They should end up choosing a profession that will nurture their talents,” he said.

Another speaker at the event was Professor Schöer from The University of the Witwatersrand, who provided a presentation on how to approach career choices. “There are no definite right or wrong choices when choosing the right profession. It’s about deciding on what works best to your strengths,” he said.
