Hoërskool Linden defeats Hoërskool Randburg in Classic Clash

It was the final countdown in the ultimate FNB Classic Clash between Hoërskool Linden and Hoërskool Randburg on 16 May.

The final game took place at Hoërskool Linden with the end rounds of the derby. In the much anticipated final match between both first teams of the respective schools hundreds of people, including pupils and parents arrived to support their teams. The lovely cheerleaders from Hoërskool Linden cheered on the audience with a round of dances. After each school sang their special school anthem the game was set to begin at 12.30pm.

“It has been a privilege for us to host the final event. All the children were involved and had good spirits throughout the derby. I am very proud of every pupil at Linden,” said Hoërskool Linden Principal Dr Jorrie Jordaan.

From the very beginning Hoërskool Linden dominated the first half. Throughout the second half Hoërskool Randburg caught up rather quickly almost equalizing the score at 26-20 in favour of Hoërskool Linden. The grounds roared with cheer from the schools, parents, visitors and many past pupils.

Ultimately Hoërskool Linden took the victory with the final score 36-20. The overall winners for the derby were Hoërskool Linden. “It has been a very special occasion for a community to celebrate together in one sport. Congratulations to Hoërskool Linden on their victory,” ended Hoërskool Randburg Principal Pieter Booysen.
