Shoes Moshoeu dies at the age of 49

JOBURG – Twitter lights up as fans tweet about Shoes Moshoeu that passed away on 21 April.

Twitter was set alight as retired Bafana Bafana striker John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu passed away on 21 April at the age of 49.

Moshoeu who was admitted to the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital at the start of February because of problems with his kidneys and he was later discharged again from the same hospital.

Bafana Bafana coach Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba said he was unable to comment on the death of Moshoeu as he was still waiting for confirmation of the soccer player’s death. However, his agent Glyn Binkin confirmed his death on Twitter. Moshoeu was part of the Bafana Bafana squad that traveled to France for the 1998 FIFA World Cup After that he went on to play for Kaizer Chiefs and he joined AmaZulu where he ended off a tremendous career at the age of 42.
