Know thy neighbour

JOHANNESBURG – Linden Community Policing Forum advises good communication in your street.

Knowing your neighbour can reduce crime in your street.

So said Linden Community Policing Forum chairperson Jadd Harding.

“Get to know your neighbours on either side, behind and across the road from you,” Harding said.

“Especially neighbours who are elderly. Get someone to check in on them now and again.”

Crime is happening, and neighbours do not know who to contact when suspicious vehicles park in the street, or who to call for immediate assistance when robbed and tied up, apart from the police.

“It is not a case of being nosy,” Harding said, adding that residents should also ask for copies of their domestic workers’ IDs.
