Residents claim to have seen a mysterious “creature” in Delta Park.
According to Ruimsig resident Josh Presley, a “large hairy animal” was “hanging around” the park’s top dam on the morning of 30 March.
“It was weird,” he said.
“I don’t feel qualified to say for sure what it was but the creature was big and hairy.”
He added that he left the park quickly because he was afraid of the animal, but not before he took a photo of it with his cellphone.
Shirley Tebbutt, park volunteer and publisher of Delta Park’s online newsletter, the Delta Park Dam Clean Up, said that this was the creature’s third known sighting. “No one has seen it [the creature] up close yet so we do not know what it is,” Tebbutt said. “It could be a hyena. I will keep my eyes open for it.”
In 2013, Juno, a brown hyena, was found walking in the Randburg CBD. Juno was safely captured by the NSPCA in Blairgowrie. If you see this “creature” in the area, contact us on Twitter.
