Jessica’s best was enough

BLAIRGOWRIE – Local tennis player wins international tournament.

Advantage Tennis Academy can boast the success of 14-year-old Jessica Assenmacher.

The Bryanston resident recently won the NWU Pukke/RVTA ITF (International Tennis Federation) doubles tournament with partner Maja Gledic in Potchefstroom.

Her academy is based at the Randburg Tennis Club, Blairgowrie.

The tournament was for players from all over the world who are younger than 18-years-old.

Assenmacher and Gledic won the final 7–5, 6–3 against the number two seeds Nadine de Villiers and Lindsay Truscott.

They also beat the number one seeds in the semi-finals and the third seeds in the quarter-finals.

“The great feeling of coming off the court as winners, when you have done your ultimate best is what makes all the hours of training count,” said Assenmacher.

“It is what I will be training for in the future.”

The academy’s head coach Gareth Gibson said that Assenmacher had worked hard for many years to develop all areas of her game, and the academy is proud of her.

“By beating so many top players in this tournament we hope she will be encouraged to perform at this level in future tournaments in both singles and doubles. We believe that there is a bright future for her.”
