SAPS holds a vehicle awareness drive

LINDEN – Linden SAPS tries to get to the bottom of vehicle theft.

The Linden SAPS has launched an awareness drive. This is due to the high incidence of vehicle theft, theft out of motor vehicles and theft from motor vehicle. These incidents are occurring in parking area, in complexes and on pavements within the Linden SAPS precinct.

An inspection will be done at different times at various locations within the Linden SAPS precinct; a report done by the SAPS will then be given to the owner of the vehicle.

The following will be inspected by the Linden SAPS:

· Is the vehicle unlocked

· Are any windows left open

· Does the radio have a removable face and has not been removed

· Is there a gear lock installed but has not been utilised

· Have valuables been left in sight of a passersby.

Linden Police Operations Commander Captain Alex Vermaak said, ” Often people are in a rush and may not check that the car is locked properly;the car then becomes an easy target – negligence could be contributing to crime statistics.”

Linden SAPS urges the community to please contact their 24-hour sector vehicles first should there be an emergency.
