Victory Park accident leaves one injured

VICTORY PARK – Accident highlights the importance of wearing your safety belts.

An accident at the intersection of Rustenburg and Craighall roads in Victory Park Estate has left one man injured.

Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that a Toyota Tazz had crashed against a wall.

According to Netcare 911 media liaison Santi Steinmann, the driver of the vehicle said he was busy turning at the intersection when the vehicle’s brakes failed, which caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and crash against the wall.

“The four occupants, two men and two pre-school children, were assessed by paramedics at the scene and they found that the male passenger of the vehicle had sustained moderate to serious injuries during the crash,” she said.

Fortunately, the two children were secured in their seats and did not sustain any injuries during the accident.

The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalisation.

“The injured man was treated at the scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.”

Traffic was severely affected as a result of the accident.

Exact detail surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.

“This incident again highlights the importance of wearing your safety belts.”
