New look, same resident’s association

WESTDENE – The Westdene Resident's Association has recently unveiled its brand new logo.

The Westdene Resident’s Association (WRA) received a breath of fresh air with the redesign of their logo.

The newly-unveiled logo sports an array of bright colours and circular design.

Chairperson of the WRA Leon Williams was very impressed with the new design. “I am delighted with the new logo as it embodies the spirit and essence of Westdene, as well as the focus of the WRA.”

Westdene resident and member of the WRA Shiraz Salejee was asked to redesign the existing association logo.

Shiraz is particularly proud of his involvement in the redesign.

“I’m very happy with what we’ve developed as it is very much a South African identity, which we hope going forward will work alongside our many efforts to unite and steer Westdene to its full potential.”

Salejee said each colour used in the logo has a specific meaning attached to it.“Our efforts must start at the heart and radiate outward, being a positive force of change to the community, the environment, and the country. The heart represents individuality, passion health, history and hope. Blue represents water (Westdene Dam), air and life. Green is for nature, the trees, the koppies and growth. Yellow is for the sun, hope, creativity, fun and optimism. The dots are for our community coming together, with different sized dots representing our diversity. The overall shape is circular because it is organic and harmonious, representing collaboration,” he explained.

The new logo has already received positive feedback from residents and the community.

Resident Janet Allman was overjoyed with the association’s recent change of logo.

“A lot of clever, passionate thought and effort went into the formulation of this logo. When I see the logo, it becomes a symbol of hope and gives me pride to belong to the community of Westdene. I just wanted to thank Shiraz and all those involved in the project.”

Community member Helen Ueckermann thinks the new WRA logo is spot-on.

“The association has created neighbourliness and a feeling of togetherness for residents. They are an amazing group whom I can’t thank enough for all they do.”

According to Salejee, “The symbolism of the logo has been adopted to serve as a visual reminder of what the WRA must stand for, which is the community, the environment, and the future. The six colours that were used were based on the colours of the South African flag, but lighter, to represent youth and optimism for the students who are tomorrow’s leaders.”
