Truluck talks about drives and passions in life
DELTA PARK – Tim Truluck shares insights about the man who is passionate about community, dogs and service delivery.
As Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck gets involved in different aspects of social issues affecting his community.
This family man, who enjoys walking his dogs, says being a councillor has given him a chance of more latitude to get things done.
“As councillor, I am more driven to get things done. To be tough when there is a need to be,” said Truluck.
Asked what drives him as councillor, he responded, “I know that doing my job is not a sprint. I want to see delivery and I want to hold the Mayor and City officials accountable to their promises.”
His past experience has also helped him to face the challenges of being a councillor.
Truluck explains that his aim is not to be accessible when people are going to vote, but whenever they need help.
Challenges include promises made and not being kept, low municipal budgets and understaffed City employees.
He is passionate about geography, history, writing, travelling, environment and good leadership.
He is so passionate about helping people that he conducts workshops where he teaches them about social media.
“In my Twitter workshops, I share my knowledge with people. They pay R50, which is donated to a local organisation.
I compile a newsletter, where I give updates and inform people about different things that are happening in my area and in Joburg,” Truluck explained.
He advised people to log their complaints first before contacting him.
“I will advise people to log their complaints and get reference numbers before calling me. It helps me to follow up on their complaints if I have proper reference numbers.”
He encouraged his community to send brief emails about their complaints because he says, emails him give a clear picture about the problem.
Ward 117 include the following areas: Pine Park, Pierneef Park, Victory Park, Blairgowrie (portion around primary school), Delta Park,
Parkhurst, Parktown North, Rosebank, Parkwood, Saxonwold, Braamfontein Spruit, Johannesburg Zoo, Zoo Lake, Craighall Park .
