Pupil gets schools fees payed via competition

NMEWLANDS – Laerskool Esperanza pupil wins big in the Shoprite Class of 2015 competition.

Jonethan Duvenage (15) was the winner of the Shoprite Class of 2015 competition. Jonethan is a local of Newlands and is also a pupil at Laerskool Esperanza.

The Shoprite Class of 2015 is an annual competition hosted by every Shoprite supermarket in South Africa. The competition runs every January.

The competition involves children writing about what they want to become once they finish school. The winner gets to have their annual schools fees paid in full. Should the winner’s schools fees already be paid, Shoprite will then award the winner a stationery voucher at the Shoprite store.

Jonethan was awarded the amount of R4 455 for his annual school fees. “I am very happy to have won this prize. It was a pleasant surprise for me,” said Duvenage.

Branch manager at Shoprite Northcliff Ingrid Jaftha was very proud of the fact that Shoprite could help Jonethan with his studies. “I am very happy for Jonethan. He shows a lot of potential and we are happy to help him realise that potential. I am also very privileged to have him and his family as regular customers here at my store.”

Principal at Laerskool Esperanza Martin Bensch was very happy for Jonethan success and congratulated Shoprite for nurturing a good relationship with the local community and schools in the area. “Esperanza is very happy Jonethan’s recent win. We commend Shoprite for its wonderful initiative and for fostering a wonderful relationship between the community and the schools.”
