Succulent Autumn Show

EMMARENTIA – The Johannesburg Succulent Society invites you to its Autumn Show, where a host of different succulent plant species from around the world will be showcased.

A fantastic showcase of succulent plants from South Africa and abroad, including many rare and prize-winning plants, will be showcased at the Succulent Society Autumn show at Floreum Hall, at the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens in Emmarentia.

Besides the beautiful show specimens for public viewing , plants such as aloes, cyphostemmas, baobabs, echiverias, haworthias and many more plant species propagated by the experts will be on sale at the event on 14 and 15 March.

Show organiser and committee member of the society Anthony Rausch said the show will be a significant event, showcasing all things succulent. “The plants on show reveal the great diversity in succulent plants that are indigenous to Southern Africa. Fifty per cent of the world’s succulent species occur in our region. Expect to see beautifully-potted specimens in prime condition from Southern Africa, Madagascar, North Africa, Arabia and Mexico. Many unusual succulent plants not available at nurseries will be on sale to the public where the succulent experts can give advice on best practice growing techniques and landscaping or potting ideas.”

There will also be a planting demonstration on 14 March, where visitors will be shown how to create a miniature succulent landscape in a shallow pot.

Plant selection, soil mixture, usage of rocks and stones, care and maintenance, balance and layout will be covered. Great ideas for a patio plant display will also be demonstrated.

Visitors to the show will stand a chance to win a miniature, landscaped succulent garden in a beautiful ceramic pot.

The autumn show will be held in the main entrance of the Floreum Hall.
