Keep power usage low to avoid load shedding

JOBURG – Transformer problem at Koeberg Power Station has been fixed but residents should remain aware that load shedding could occur during 3 February.

Eskom announced that on 3 February there will be load shedding that will last for 12 hours.

“There is currently an issue with a transformer at the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station. The problem has been rectified by Eskom but this means that Koeberg will only be able to deliver electricity to the network on 4 or 5 February,” said Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe.

“Power will be limited today but we can announce that there will be no load shedding after 10pm as the power usuage has decreased but load shedding might occur if the usage goes up again.”

Phasiwe concluded and explained that the load shedding could happen anytime between 12am and 10pm if the usage increases.
