A song for Cheynne

NORTHCLIFF – Cheynne Holloway died on 17 January and her ex-boyfriend has written a song in her memory.

Steve Greenwood writes:

Words turn to silence my mind falls apart

And all you can hear is my shattering heart

It struggles to beat where it once beat so strong

It can’t understand that you’re where you belong

For years I assumed that you’d always be there

The truth that you’re gone is just so hard to bear

I wish I was there when you took your last breath

We’ll always remember the day that you left

For home

I struggled for years just to write you a song

The fact you can’t hear it now feels so wrong

You lived with a heart that was purest of all

But even the purest can suddenly fall

The world’s lost a love that could cure all its pain

A smile that would heal so you never hurt again

I wish you were here I’ve got so much to say

It makes me so angry that you had to leave

This way

How can I thank you so you’d understand

I’ll never stop loving you the best way I can

Now it feels so empty so cold and alone

I never could repay the love that you’ve shown

I so want to thank you but now it’s too late

There’s nothing more painful than accepting fate

Goodbye is too hard so for now it’s farewell

Our story so precious, it’s too hard to tell

I pray, that you can hear me

One day, we’ll meet again

I’ll hold you close and I’ll cry like a child,

I’ll struggle to speak while emotions run wild

Then you’ll whisper softly, you already know

I’m sorry my love, but I had to go

Be strong and be true to your heart and your soul

Love till it hurts, and one day you will know

Living with sadness breeds sadness for all

That’s not the way that I want you to fall

Heaven has another angel now
