JRA delivers service to Melville residents

MELVILLE – Melville residents are thrilled as JRA has closed potholes that have been eating up their suburban roads.

The Joburg Roads Agency (JRA) covered numerous potholes in Melville on 21 January.

“I am extremely pleased to see that JRA didn’t forget us,” said an ecstatic Ward 87 councillor Amanda Forsythe.

“I sent through a list of potholes that needed to be attended to during our visible service delivery campaign in November last year and thought that work had stalled on this. I asked my Ward inspector Philip Miya to look into why so many issues were still outstanding and thankfully, JRA have returned to complete the list.”

According to Forsythe, “it makes an enormous difference to us in Melville and helps us to push back the urban decay that had been setting in.”

Cobi Meyer on Facebook said “They only did four patches. They are not all done yet. We have to keep logging the work that needs to be done. The app is really great. It is called JRA find and fix. From pavements to weeds and grass cutting to traffic lights, we should all get the app and keep logging all the issues.”

Taryn Leigh Anderson said with a smile, “The huge hole at the circle outside Melville Spar has also been repaired.”

JRA officially launched the mobile App called Find and Fix at the Microsoft Office in Bryanston on 14 May 2014.

The app allows residents of Johannesburg who have access to mobile operating system platforms like Windows Phone 8, Android and iOS for Apple to report any road-related issues.

It uses GPS and camera technology to allow Johannesburg residents to ‘snap it, send it, we’ll fix it’ as the tagline goes.

According to Forsythe, Melville is on a roll and residents should look out for more improvements.

“I would like to thank the residents and business owners who have taken a more proactive stance by helping to log service delivery issues like this and pester the City into pushing back the urban decay they allowed to set in through neglect.

I would like to encourage others to do the same. I’m sure many have already seen a difference in Melville and we have to keep going,” concluded Forsythe.
