Water conservation tips in and around the house or business:

  • Do not leave taps leaking /running.
  • Do not put anything down the toilet besides toilet paper.
  • Fill kettle with the quantity of water you need.
  • Bath your young children together.
  • Do not leave the tap running while brushing your teeth.
  • Use a cup in order to drink water from a tap.
  • If you prefer to bath, do not fill up the bath tub.
  • Use a bucket rather than using a hose pipe to wash your car. If you have to use a hose pipe, use a sprayer that can be turned off in between spraying the car. Using a garden hose pipe could use as much as 30 litres of water per minute.
  • Farmers must ensure that they keep toxic insecticides away from water sources and streams.
  • Factories should take care of how they discharge mercury and other heavy metals into waste water.
