UPDATE:
12:55 – Metro Police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar confirmed that the police officer shot this morning is a member of the Brixton Police.
Minnaar said Metro Police are on scene because they patrol the parks, in close proximity to where the officer was shot.
Reports on social media state that the officer was shot in his hand, although this has not been confirmed yet.

12:38 – Police have reportedly launched a manhunt for a suspect who shot a police officer in Brixton this morning.
Singer Tasha Baxter posted a picture on her Facebook page, captioned “quiet morning in #brixton. #helicopters about 50 patrol.cars, cop shot.”
A Brixton Police officer said she had not heard of the incident and couldn’t provide further information.
