Taxi crashes through wall of Greenside property.

GREENSIDE – A taxi lost control and crashed through the wall of a nearby property, leaving eight passengers injured.

A Greenside residential property was on 8 January subject to an unfortunate accident at 7am when a taxi driver allegedly lost control of his vehicle on the corner of Barry Hertzog Avenue and Muirsfield Road.

The taxi then crashed through the wall of a nearby residence.

The owner of the property was away on business at the time of the crash, but her housekeeper Talita Ncube was home.

“It was so sudden. I rushed to the site only to find that the taxi had completely crashed through the wall,” said Ncube.

Ncube said the driver contacted the property owner and informed him about the accident. She then proceeded to organise a tow truck to come and assist.

The Metro Police and emergency services were at the scene by 7.30am. There were fortunately no fatal injuries reported.

The taxi was loaded with passengers at the time of the crash. Eight passengers reportedly sustained minor injuries while the driver sustained a head injury and scars on his hands.

The driver and passengers were transported to hospital by Netcare 911 paramedics to receive the necessary medical attention.
