Eskom implements stage 1 load shedding

METRO – Eskom has implemented stage 1 load shedding.

Brace yourselves for some load shedding.

Eskom has announced that it has started stage 1 load shedding due to emergency maintenance.

According to spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe some of the generators that went on maintenance did not come back as expected.

“We would like to appeal to customers to continue using electricity sparingly, and also to reduce their electricity usage as much as they can. Customers should help us manage the system by switching off even air conditioners.”

Stage 1 load shedding allows for up to 1 000MW of the national load to be shed, stage 2 for up to 2 000MW, and stage 3 for up to 4 000MW.

Phasiwe advises residents to contact Eskom or City power to find out when and what time they will be affected by load shedding.
